Strategy moves 6 & 5
|
Here is a Backgammon board at the start of a game.
Say you are the black checkers.
Your objective is to go anti-clockwise.
And get your checkers to their home.

You move your checkers by throwing the dice.
You can either play 1 or 2 checkers with the numbers shown on dice.
If the dice show two identical numbers you can play 4 times that number.
That means if you threw two 6s you can move up to 4 checkers six spaces.
You move on the triangular shapes called Points.
First Moves
I will show you to play your first moves to ATTACK and DEFEND.
6 and 1 6 down and 1 across created a door.
It's one of the best moves.
There is no real alternate move.

- From 13 to 7 and 8 to
6 & 2
This can be played many ways. But sensible options are
- Play 6 & 2 at top (1 checker movement)
- Play 6 with 1 checker then 2 with the other checker.

- 24 to 16
- 24 to 18 & 24 to 22
6 & 3
Again very similar to 6 & 2
- Play 6 & 3 at top (1 checker movement)
- Play 6 with 1 checker and 3 with the other

- 13 to 8
- 24 to 15
- 24 to 18 & 24 to 21
6 & 4
There is only 1 move. This is also a great door
- Play 6 & 4 across top (1 checker movement)
- Play 6 with 1 checker the 4 with the other
- Play 6 & 4 down the bottom, making a door.

- 24 to 14
- 24 to 18 & 24 to 20
- 8 to 2 & 6 to 2
6 & 5
- There is only 1 move 6 & 5 top
This a good dice but can sometimes lead to a trap for opponent

- 24 to 13
5 & 1
- There is only one move 5 down and 1 at top
This is on of the worse numbers to start with

- 24 to 23 & 13 to 8
5 & 2
- Play 2 at top and 5 down>li>
- Play 2 down and 5 down
- Play checker safe 5 & 2 to home

- 24 to 22 & 13 to 8
- 13 to 8 & 13 to 11
- 13 to 6
5 & 3
- Play 5 & 3 to get a door in your home.
- Play 5 & 3 down. This will leave you the option to gain a better door next go.

- 8 to 3 & 6 to 3
